Uitkyk has eight new prefects!

Uitkyk has seen a tremendous growth in numbers. We are now 61 learners, instead of just under 40 at this time last year. This has necessitated that we expand the number of our prefects at the school. We now have eight new prefects, instead of the usual three!
They are Tristan Valodia-Wessels, Carlyn Arnolds (Head Prefect), Bridgett Hartzenberg, Amy Hendricks, Goslyn Lakay, Kimberleigh Maartin and Godwin Damons. We wish them the best for their term.

About Uitkyk!

Uitkyk Primary is a school in Greyton in the picturesque Overberg district of the Western Cape.

From our front door, we enjoy one of the most beautiful vistas of any school in the country.

Uitkyk Primary is has some 86 learners, from grade 1 to 7. We are a small school, but we take the business of teaching very seriously.

Some of our wonderful children come from less affluent homes, and we are a school who has to make do without a lot of the luxuries that schools in the city enjoy.

It must be said, however, that it remains an immense privilege to be able to go to school in such a picturesque environment.

Some mornings we rise to find snow on our mountain peaks, and the occasional snowfall on our school grounds, delighting the children!

As a school, we represent the new South Africa.

We do not only represent the new South Africa, but we buy into the values and ethos of our new and constitutionally guided country whole-heartedly. We admire our leaders and hold a deep regard for those who have struggled for the freedom that we can enjoy. Amongst those; the freedom to associate with one another, regardless of where we come from.

At Uitkyk, we have Xhosa, Zulu, Afrikaans, English, Polish, Christian and Muslim children.

People who come to our school for the first time always say, after climbing our little uphill, that the first thing they experience when they get their breath back, is LOVE.

Uitkyk is a school built, brick by brick, on love, and love is the cement that keeps us together through sometimes difficult times.
